When you have big news to share, who do you usually want to tell first?

First, I do a super Snoopy happy dance for happy news. Then I call whoever was involved, after I speed dial my hubby. Tough stuff like this week was rough. I had to share wider than the family for prayer support. This time, I got to call my sister who truly is now my sister in Christ!!!!! and we will walk through this together.

Nobody. I’m a really private person, so I tend to keep big news to myself for awhile. I don’t like to ruin happy news by telling someone who will either get overly-excited or not be happy for me at all. If it’s bad news, then I need time to absorb it before I can deal with everyone else’s emotions about it. I can’t deal with other people freaking out about me when I’m still freaking out myself about something. Once I do decide to finally talk about something, then I usually tell someone random, like the clerk at the grocery store or my doctor — someone neutral. I guess it’s a way of “testing” how someone will react to whatever it is.

Dad, brothers, my discipler(s) … that’s usually it but it has changed. Really depends who the closest people to me are at a particular season of life.

Usually my sister, my room mate (who is kind of like my sister), and a couple of my close friends, who are also kind of like my sisters . . . It kind of depends on just what the news is though.

My mom Then God… who already knows! And sometimes I think, “I should have wanted to talk to Him first!”

Usually, the ones to hear my big news first are those who have walked with me through the process of getting to the big news. Then we celebrate!

depends on what time of day it is and who’s awake (here or stateside)… my co-workers/friends and my siblings and parents

My best friend, then my parents… and as to who is next, it depends on what the news is about.
Sometimes it’s easiest to just post it on Facebook – for those little simple joys of the day (ya know, the ones that make you do the *office swivel chair bouncy/twirly dance*) – then my news goes around the world! ;oD

The Lord, parents, siblings, those around me, friends. I know the Lord already knows…but He also cares the most.

It depends on what the “big news” is. Usually I want to tell my mom and sisters first, but sometimes it’s easier to tell my coworkers (who are my mentors and friends) first…especially if I’m not sure if my family will be happy about whatever the big news involves.
