The other day I bought KJ-52′s newest album “52 Television.”

A few months back, I, also, got the new Newsboys album (which I enjoy much more than the more recent stuff from the Furler-led Newsboys).

  14. DanL said the following on August 31, 2010 at 4:40 pm

I haven’t yet heard most of the songs from these albums, but the singles I’ve heard I really like:
    “Born Again” -Newsboys
    “Born Again” -Third Day
And from the country ranks: “If I Die Young” -The Band Perry

I think the newest music I’ve got is the most recent Glee soundtrack. Favorite track: “To Sir, with Love.”

Everything else I’m listening to lately is older.

I am looking forward to purchasing Andrew Peterson’s newest album.

  17. kristennicole said the following on August 31, 2010 at 8:13 pm

I have also been into Mumford & Sons, Jadon Lavik, and Andrew Peterson lately. Such great music :)

Born Again from Newsboys is also quite good and Micheal Tait does a great job of lead singer! :)

Future of Forestry’s Travel III EP. I bought it about a month ago, and finally got around to listening to it this week! So good.

Sometimes I listen to Pandora, but more often than not I listen to grooveshark.com. You can listen to just about every imaginable track for free. :-)

My latest favorite find is Patty Griffin, especially her “Making Pies.”

  23. kalgo said the following on September 1, 2010 at 4:15 pm

I really like Future of Forestry as well! I only have Travel I and II, I’ll have to check out III!

Thanks for the advice about grooveshark.com :) I will definitely tap into that. :)

@ kalgo, I keep hearing about this “Future of Forestry” band and I’m about to look them up on YouTube!! Hope they’re awesome like you say!

So I’ve really been enjoying Switchfoot’s latest album as well as Red’s and a band I just discovered called Seabird. (:

Ray Lamontagne’s new album, “God Willin and the Creek Don’t Rise” has kept me relaxed and singing for the past 2 weeks. It’s addicting.

  27. beccaliz said the following on September 1, 2010 at 11:36 pm

Mumford and Sons is my current favorite, but I’m also really into this new band called Grand Vanity. Their amazing EP is here: http://www.relevantmagazine.com/media/the-drop

    I’m addicted.

My most recent find was the song We Can Be More by Sho Baraka. I’m also anticipating the new CD by Lecrae that comes out Sept. 28th. If you like Christian hip hop/rap I would recommend both artists. Lecrae’s lyrics especially are deep and packed with theology and scripture.

I went to a conference in June and the group that played was called Enfield. They have some good songs! I also have started to listen to more Sovereign Grace music. They have good worship songs with gospel-centered lyrics. One of their songs I’d highly recommend listening to is All I Have is Christ. Great song!

Tenth Avenue North. My sister introduced me to them and their songs are absolutely fantastic. http://www.tenthavenuenorth.com/music
    Jack Johnson.
And, though not new, it’s new to me: Ryan Smith (Through & Through).

Katherine Jenkins new album “Believe” and Starfield’s “Beauty in the Broken” are the two new albums that I have been listening to recently.
Katherine Jenkins has a beautiful voice and a nice variety of songs and Starfield’s lyrics are awesome!

Ps. I also love Tenth Avenue North!

I just bought Sea Wolf “White Water, White Bloom” and Florence + The Machine “Lungs”. Sara Bareilles’ new album comes out this weekend and I’m really excited for it.

And while they’re not new, I still love The Avett Brothers and Needtobreathe. I’m not sure how recent Enter the Worship Circle released Chair & Microphone vol 3, but I’ve been soaking it up for the last couple months.

Ohhhh guys y’all have got to check out a young man name (mali music) on youtube, he spits the truth and so needed for this generation. Music is one of my passions:-)

    Bjarv “The Red Album”
Swedish folk music at its finest (gotta love nyckelharpa!)

  35. Kristen said the following on September 6, 2010 at 12:22 pm

Thanks for the suggestions, there’s several in here I had not heard of and have since downloaded!

I am loving Addison Row’s new album and can’t wait for Needtobreathe’s next one that they are currently recording (they’re working on a slide banjo–awesome!). I’ve also been getting into Gungor.

If anyone’s looking for something out of their usual genres, I would recommend Ali Farka Toure and Toumani Diabate. Amazing African instrumental music (with sparse vocals). Really, anything by them is quite good, though I particularly enjoy their latest, “Ali & Toumani”.

@MadHatter – Since you like Katherine Jenkins, you may also enjoy Sarah Brightman, who many of us know as the female lead from Phantom of the Opera. Quite lovely!

Do you have any old favorites that you keep going back to?

  36. Candace said the following on September 7, 2010 at 10:45 pm

@Kristen: Ali Farak Toure is great! I heard him at a free concert several yrs ago at the Mali section of the Smithsonean Folklife festival, and loved his music.

I enjoy listening to Gotan Project which is a techno tango with some lyrics.
