What’s your favorite romantic song?

For some reason ‘Lara’s Theme’ from Dr. Zhivago comes to mind.

Well, my absolute favorite I’d prefer to keep persona, but I will say that I’m a sucker for an 80’s power ballad. :)

    *personal (not persona – d’oh!)

One is impossible since there are too many facets of romance. Maybe you young ones can discover a new one from my list.

Time in A Bottle: Croce precious
Nights in White Satin: Moody Blues (fav band of all time)
    Fields of Gold: Sting lifetime
This Nearly Was Mine: Ezio Pinza version lost
The Way you look tonight: Fred Astaire enchanting
    Per Te: Groban passion
The Last Farewell: Roger Whitaker love: distance
Try to Remember: Ed Ames phases of love
Where Have you been: Kathy Matea enduring love
    Nessun Dorma: Pavarotti melting

Celebrating 28 years of wonderful romance, this May.

I pray the same blessing for you Marry Well’ers.

Like, Katie, I have my “secret pick.” And I do have a few “romantic” songs in my repertoire. Every guitarist must.

But I don’t know, choosing to share a “romantic song” when you’re single is kinda weird when there’s no one in mind for that song.

Therefore, I will go with the ironic pick and choose Jimmy Soul’s “If You Wanna Be Happy.”

Jim Croce is awesome, and I love Time in the Bottle, but it’s way too sad for me to think of it as romantic.

Well, I’ve always been single so it’s a bit awkward to pick a romantic song, especially when Mrs. M nabbed a couple of really good ones from the Moody Blues and Sting, but the one I like best of all, which I try not to listen to too often so that it doesn’t get old, is “All That I Am” by Rob Thomas.

The one that always gets me is “I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain.

    His Cheeseburger.

(It’s not really about a cheeseburger!)

I really like “Follow You, Follow Me” by Genesis. It’s a kind of call to love and life, I think.

I’m surprised no one has said “I Will Be Here,” by Steven Curtis Chapman. That used to be THE song to have played at your Christian wedding.

Ya, but playing “Canon’s Pachelbel in D” is falling out of favor, too. Maybe they both got overdone.

    Psalm 67 – I find your choice very ironic considering the discussion on looks occurring on the other post (;

For me, I’d choose something by Chris Rice, off the Amusing album.

Well, the term “romantic” can mean any fierce expression of emotion, if only that initial `r` were capitalized. Oh well. So I hafta pick a song about girls? “Unchained Melody” is the first one that comes to mind.

    I like “Faithfully” by Journey.

  16. MissW said the following on March 7, 2010 at 8:06 pm

“Out of the Woods” by Nickel Creek, although it might be considered a longing for love song.

  17. dave5008 said the following on March 8, 2010 at 4:35 pm

Steven Curtis Chapman – “I Will Be Here.”

Michael W. Smith – “Love Of My Life”

    Journey – “Open Arms”

Peter Cetera “Have you ever been in love?”

There’s a ton more I could list but this gives you the idea! :o )
