What have you learned in church recently?

Grace, grace, grace. Jesus in, Jesus out.

That though elementary-age kids may not be ready for algebra, they really can grasp the simplest yet most spiritually deep things in Bible stories. Y’all should have heard the responses the kids gave during the children’s feature Sunday – about the woman who bathed Jesus’ feet with her precious perfumed oil. The kids understood that she was doing it because she loved Jesus so much. Wow.

And though the adage “The devil is in the details” seems true at times, God is still Lord of all, including details. In first grade Sunday School on Sunday (I subbed), we talked about what He did in creation and what was done on each day. Then during the pastor’s “pastoral” prayer, he mentioned the actions of creation! Hey, that was no coincidence!! (What a pastoral prayer… in at least two ways!)

So… God knows what He’s doing. :D Need to remember that truth in other areas of my life. *cough cough* marriage *cough*

It is Christ plus NOTHING. Doesn’t mean that you’re exempt from service or working out your salvation, but Christ has been, and always will be, the answer. I find that especially affirming in my singleness…

How to sit still and that I am God. In my Lecta Devina glass. I find it so helpful to just learn to sit and be quite before the Lord. Yes it is very hard. But it take practice!

This past week was missions week at my church. I learned this past week that there are multiple missions organizations that pair any career with other missions groups. It’s encouraging seeing that what I perceived to be the few options for missions work is much, much smaller than other people’s vision of missions work. The speaker encouraged us to ask God how we fit into the great commission. I am excited to see what comes out of his challenge.

That direction, not intention, determines my path in life.

When faced with any choice, instead of asking, “will God allow me to do so-and-so”, the correct question is, “What is the wise thing to do?”

Wow, that first sentence is a pithy truth! Would you mind expounding on it?

    Thanks! :)

    - I don’t understand your answer. What is Lecta Divina? What do you mean that you are God? Can you explain?
