Having my dad (and our dogs) regularly wake me up at 4:00 am to watch the Northern Lights and spend time with just him.

Going to Lake of the Woods in Canada every year. We would stay on a little island and do lots of exploring and fishing. Great family memories were built. I’m ready to go back.

One of my favorites is hiking and playing in the Pisgah National Forest and Great Smoky Mountains National Park around Asheville, NC. West NC is absolutely beatiful and serene.

Going to Florida each year along with my brother to visit our dad. He’d take us to Disney World, we’d go fishing or walk up the dirt road to visit friends we’d only get to see yearly. None of this seemed as exciting then because I’m a city girl however thinking back those were some good times.

My favorite memory is playing with my dolls and stuffed animals after school when I was little. Then, my dad would play games with me every evening after supper. Those are special memories.

Taking the Radio Flyer wagon up the hill with my sister and brother using a neighbors drive way going down the drive way making a turn and down the the hill we would fly into another neighbors driveway at the bottom of the hill. HA
At the country. Taking newspaper and sitting on it and sliding down the hill with my sisters and cousins. Later that night to find we ended up with mosquito bites all over. It was worth it!
Ah yes. A walk to Boyd’s for ice cream with my sisters and cousins after dinner:)

My dad picking me up after school and me asking for a treat. He would always tell me, “Give me some good reasons.” I would say a few reasons and then say “and buddah-buddah-buddah.” That was always our little phrase that we would say to each other, even though now I’m not really sure it has an actual meaning!
Also, going with my parents to pick out the Christmas tree.

One of my favorite memories was the day I spied a strong dust/leaf devil while I was playing at a park. I jumped into it and danced.

Sledding with my family, then setting up the Christmas tree. We would sit around the tree with all the lights out except those on the tree talking about life until one of us fell asleep.

singing with my mom while she played piano
going “railfanning” with my dad
playing “beauty shop” with my sister
exploring our yard in early spring and discovering little surprises, like that the crocuses had begun to push up out of the ground
“spying” on the neighborhood boys… heh, heh

Going camping with my family. No tv … just enjoying being together, playing games (UNO being the main one), lining the camp site with Comet to keep the ants away (it works really well) … Good times.

aww these are all so much fun to read!! I have quite a few good memories from growing up, one of which is when my Dad would take me out on dates. Once, after we’d finished eating at McDonalds he bought me Beauty and the Beast, which I still have and is still a favourite!

When my family would go white water rafting down a river in Lake Tahoe, my dad teaching us how to swing dance, acting out scenes from Little Women with my 4 younger sisters, singing karaoke (my mom bought us one after we rented it so many times for different parties and events), doing family Bible studies every morning when I was in jr. high & high school, playing Apples to Apples, family vacations in Hawaii. . .there are so many great memories with my gregarious Irish-Italian family!

one christmas my mum managed to buy a second hand trike, dismantle, strip, re-spray, assemble and transport it 2.5hours away to Invercargill all with out me knowing, then getting it on Christmas day, the amount of work that went into that still makes me smiled, I am blessed to have a mum who did such a wonderful job raising us kids. – side note; Im from New Zealand, hence ‘mum’ being used instead of ‘mom’
