Circling up with a great book, listening to awesome music, sitting next to a fire and watching the snow fall in big fat flakes. But one weekend per winter is enough for me! I really ready to start talking about SPRING!

Winters in a city, especially if it is a snowy winter, are wonderful. I’ve heard it referred to as an Urban Narnia.
If the snow is coming down, my friends and I pull on our snow boots, comfy clothes, and walk over to have brunch in a fun spot. Warm food, great conversation, and picturesque views – good times!

Sleddding and ice skating are favourites of mine, although I don’t get to skate that often. Another winter activity I enjoy is getting our fire going and doing schoolwork next to our woodburner, aaahhhh so relaxing!

I love to be outside in all seasons, so it would include that. If there’s enough snow, I really like sledding, though my current neighborhood is too flat. At our Bible conference in Switzerland, there’s a 14km sled run… which is just about as much fun as you can have!
If no one’s up for being outside, sharing homemade pizza or soup with friends and then playing games is a favorite for me.

This fall/winter, I’ve taken up quilting! It has been fun to take my sewing machine over to a friend’s house (who has a woodstove…such a welcome change from the electric heat of where I live) and create and catch up with one another! I just started on quilt #3, and the previous 2 have turned out so beautifully and been a big hit with my Mom and grandparents (who I gave them to for gifts).

Getting to wear winter clothes and dress up and look cute! LOL….but really, it kinda is because in South Texas winters lasts about 2 weeks….besides that we really don’t have “winter” activities other than stuffing your face during the holidays…lol

Sledding! Also, winter picnics are fun… A couple friends and I had one in two feet of snow a couple weeks ago. The best part was eating ice cream cake! I also love walking or snowshoeing in the woods in the winter.

Being warm, preferably by a wood/pellet stove. Add to that a good cup of tea and an engaging book and I’m set for hours.

Staying warm. Living in Florida, our winters are totally different. I have a friend who cannot believe that I’ve never been ice skating. Or sledding. Or skiing.

There really aren’t any winter activities in Florida because while it’s cold, there’s no snow, so there’s not much to do outside.

My favorite winter activity is going with some friends to the mountains and skiing or snowshoeing up to a hut for a few nights. It’s so relaxing. I just got back tonight from our annual trip. It was fabulous. We even got in longer and steeper sled runs than I’ve ever experienced. I love being out and enjoying God’s beautiful creation.

Staying inside with a good book, several layers of blankets, fuzzy socks, a cup of hot chocolate or hot tea… and napping. =)
